Hola from Honduras! Well, if you saw the news you heard about the plane crash..............interesting first day for Ken. The Ambassador from Brazil and his wife were on the plane and she died. Five died total. Many of the people and crew stayed at our hotel but are gone now. We spoke with one man in the elevator and he was banged up pretty bad. It is a good thing we changed our flight to the day before. I am sure we would have been delayed another week in Miami. We just returned from traveling around some parts of Tegus. We looked at several houses yesterday and we made an offer for "rent" on two. All the houses have quarters for a housekeeper which will be strange if we have one full time. The first house we saw we really liked and it is a five bedroom, six bath, gated community. It has a mango tree in the back yard and a pretty good view. The second is a four bedroom, three bath, not gated but there are security guards and it is in the same area (in fact around the corner) from the Army Section Chief and a lot of diplomats live in the area. Incredible views from all sides of the house and nicely landscaped yard. When you walk in it is all marble flooring with a small fountain. The master bedroom and bath is very big and has a jacuzzi tub!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whew hoo! So we will see what happens. The Embassy has to go through the houses and see if the security is going to be okay. The people we have met are very nice. The general manager and his assistant met us when we arrived at the hotel Thursday and gave us a baby gift. This hotel is FIRST CLASS! Lot of American restaurants and fast food places. Oh, we got a membership to a price mart which is like SAM's Club. Lot's of good stuff to buy in bulk. So far everything is going well and we are having a great time. I got some ideas on charity work and looking forward to meeting the other spouses at the Military Group and Embassy. Ken has already met the US Ambassador and some of the other in-country dignitaries and we believe this is going to be a great assignment!!!!! I am accompanying Ken to the Embassy tomorrow to get all the logistical stuff taken care of and check things out. We passed by the hospital and looks really nice but will inquire to get a tour and set up a doctor's appointment. We already got a car - pretty nice and both have cells phones. Numbers are below. For now, we have to limit "short" calls to once or twice a week until we know what the deal is. I have a $20 limit and anything over we pay out of pocket. We will keep you posted on the progress with the house! It is pretty exciting. The drivers are absolutely impatient and are completely insane! I can't even describe how bad the driving is. At restaurants & stores, they are very laid back so you obviously do not need to be in a hurry..........which will take some getting use too.
We love you very much and miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
